Hello Rosary Lovers! In today’s post, we will look at the power of the Rosary!

The Rosary is one of the most powerful prayers in the world

There is almost no prayer in the Catholic Church which is as powerful as the most holy Rosary.

The Rosary goes by different names:

  • The Rosary
  • The holy Rosary
  • The most holy Rosary
  • Mary’s Psalter
  • And so on

All of these titles for the Rosary indicate that it is something very special.

The title ‘The Rosary’ indicates that it is a prayer which is offering spiritual roses to Mary in heaven.

The title holy Rosary indicates it is a very holy prayer, a unique prayer in the Church.

The title most holy Rosary tells us it is extremely holy and extremely powerful.

The title ‘Mary’s Psalter’ tells us that the Rosary is the Book of Psalms of the New Covenant.

What this means is that we have a Psalter in the Christian era, a new Psalter and a new Hymn-book and it is the Rosary. In a way, Mary’s Psalter has – sort of – replaced the Psalms of the Old Testament.

Now, of course, the Church has not disposed of the Psalms. Far from it! The Church meditates upon and prays the Psalms every, single day in the Divine Office.

And yet, there is this tradition within the Church that the Rosary is in a sense a New Psalter, a special Psalter from Mary, a Psalter which is more focused on Jesus Christ.

In any case, the Rosary is certainly an extremely special prayer.

Testimonies of Saints

We can note the power of the Rosary by hearing the voice of the saints who have gone before us:

‘If our age in its pride laughs at and rejects Our Lady’s Rosary, a countless legion of the most saintly men of every age and of every condition have not only held it most dear and have most piously recited it but have also used it at all times as a most powerful weapon to overcome the devil, to preserve the purity of their lives, to acquire virtue more zealously, in a word, to promote peace among men.’ – Pope Pius XI

‘The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary.’ – St. Francis de Sales

‘Those who say the Rosary daily and wear the Brown Scapular and who do a little more, will go straight to Heaven.’ – St. Alphonsus Ligouri

‘Among all the devotions approved by the Church none has been favored by so many miracles as the devotion of the most Holy Rosary.’ – Pope Pius IX

‘The Rosary is THE WEAPON.’ – St. Padre Pio

‘The Rosary is the scourge of the devil.’ – Pope Adrian VI

‘The Rosary is the most powerful weapon to touch the Heart of Jesus, Our redeemer, who loves His Mother.’ – St. Louis de Montfort

‘If there were one million families praying the Rosary every day, the entire world would be saved.’ – Pope St. Pius X

‘The Rosary is a school for learning true Christian perfection.’ – St Pope John XXIII

We see from these Church authorities and saints that the Rosary is a very unique prayer, most holy indeed, and extremely powerful.

We would all do well to give ourselves to the most holy Rosary and Mary’s immaculate Heart.

Other Testimonies

I’ve seen testimonies of people online who pray the Rosary everyday. You can see this on YouTube, for instance, this inspiring video.

This is no joke. It’s reality.

My Own Testimony

I created Rosary Lovers because I adore the Rosary and the blessed Virgin Mary and her immaculate Heart. I love her Son and I love the God who has revealed Mary to me.

To know Mary is like having a second conversion to Christ and to God. She has radically transformed my faith in Jesus Christ, and it is FAR stronger now than it has ever been at any other point in my Christian life.

It is very hard for non-Catholic Christians, such as Protestants, to appreciate this because they haven’t experienced it.

Some Protestants are brought to the Catholic faith because they begin a relationship with Mary and see that the Catholic teaching about Mary is true to real life spiritual experience.

For many people, their faith in God is far too masculine. They only know God as a he.

To discover that God has revealed himself to us through a Great Woman called Mary is a very new journey and direction of faith. Many people find they can approach God much more easily through this Woman they call Mother.

In a real sense, it is effectively accessing the divine through a Woman. We know that men and women are very different and have very different qualities. For some of us, coming to the divine through a Woman (Mary) is the answer our faith has been looking for for years.

I love the Rosary because I have tangibly felt its power in my own life. The effects have been very obvious and miraculous.

I’ve seen many answers to prayer for others through just saying a simple Hail Mary for someone or a situation. It’s uncanny how often this has happened.

The Rosary is the one thing that helped me conquer a besetting sin I struggled with for a while. I used to really get irritated and frustrated. Inside I would want to scream or shout, and sometimes I voiced my discontent, impatience and anger.

I hated this sin and longed to overcome it but nothing worked. I’m not saying I’m perfect in this regard, but when I began praying 3 rosaries a day, there was a definite and final break with this sin so that it became much easier to deal with.

It doesn’t seem to have the same power over me that it once had. I am no longer a slave to this sin.

I noticed also that mentally I became a lot happier and content with life. Life got easier, as I began to know Mary’s help in all things. My mental health was greatly aided by the power of the Rosary.

Most of all, the last 2-3 years up until recently were very hard for me. I battled with a very near loss of faith in 2020, doubts, sins, awful trials, the loss of my father, plus other huge events in life. It was a very difficult time, the hardest of my life.

I have sometimes wondered how on earth I survived this period without a breakdown. I came very close on at least 2 occasions. The stresses and strains were at times collosal and there was at least one occasion I pleaded with God to take my life.

And yet, through the Rosary, last year was both the hardest and the HAPPIEST time of my life.

Through the Rosary, I continued to stand and fight and conquer.

Through the Rosary, I got medical help.

Through the Rosary, I somehow did not give up on faith.

Through the Rosary, somehow I did not give up on life.

I owe all of this to the power of the most holy Rosary, my dearest spiritual companion.

During this time I was praying 4 rosaries a day: all of the 20 mysteries. It is this that kept me going, every single day.

These days, I pray 3 rosaries a day: I do the traditional 15 mysteries. I just cannot manage the 4, I’m so busy with so much going on in my life. Full-time stay-at-home parent, part-time online business, part-time employee.

Even these life changes are due to the Rosary, as I prayed for them. I am like a new man.

When Mary says it’s time to switch your spiritual disciplines, then listen. Don’t worry, don’t be unwilling to let God lead you in new spiritual directions and to a new devotion or manner of practicing a devotion.

  1. Once again, thank you for another great post!  This one is particalarly good, because before my conversion to Catholicism, I was a protestant.  It was Mother Mary that I had the most issues with coming to terms in believing, because in Southern Baptist Theology, Mary could never have been born without sin, the mother of God, or even assumed into heaven.  We just would not believe that.  However, it was through trust in the Church, and praying the Rosary that I really accepted those beliefs.  The Rosary is a beautiful meditative prayer.

    1. Many thanks indeed for your thoughtful words. I too was Protestant before I converted to the Catholic Church. I tried out Greek Orthodoxy first, you might want to see my recent post on that: https://rosarylovers.com/what-

I never found it all that hard to embrace Mary actually. I think because I first came round to believing the Orthodox Church, I decided I would just accept whatever she told me. I also loved the idea that I had a heavenly Mother.

I later came round to praying the Rosary, after I became Catholic and a while after that.

      God bless you!
